Weekly Photo Challenge: Through

These pictures are over an year old. And were taken on a road trip through the Banff and Jasper National parks. The Canadian Rockies are breathtakingly beautiful and there is a good picture at every turn.

Our drive started early morning and the sky was overcast and suddenly these mountain peaks appeared through the fog as if looking down to smile at us.

As we got a little closer we saw this view with the Wildlife overpass/ crossings in the foreground and seems like the mountains are floating above it.  The  crossings allow animal to cross the trans-Canada highway safely. Animals don’t have to go through the road anymore to get to the other side of their habitat and collisions with vehicles can be prevented.

We took the Gondola to the sulfur mountain and hiked the rest of the trail to the top and we were able to see the valley below and the river that runs through it.

Hope you like these images.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Distorted

A lot of thoughts popped into my head simultaneously with this week’s topic and here are my top two…..

There is hardly something that is more often distorted than the spoken word…. you mean something and it is understood as something totally different…..and that leads to a series of explanations and clarifications…..and yet another round of distortions.

The written word comes a close second, especially that of the spiritual/religious kind (may be this tops the list). It has been distorted to mean different things to different people and sometimes distorted to be an instrument of violence than of peace.

And then this second image…this was clicked last winter while on our way to Jasper national park at Sunwapta falls. The water has distorted and formed the land with its sheer force. But here the water itself is distorted as it freezes on the surface although the flow continues beneath.
