Weekly Photo Challenge: Illumination

Lights are functional — everyday objects in our rooms and on our streets. Yet lights can be powerful symbols: signs of life, curiosity, and discovery. We’re interested in seeing what you come up with for illumination.

This is an installation in the Montreal Biodome, on the way to the displays for nocturnal animals. These surreal looking under-lit stools beckon children to run around them or climb on them. A good example of how lights can evoke curiosity.

For this week’s challenge, I had to to try real hard to look away from the pictures of holiday lights that I have clicked. However, I could not resist posting this image of a pre-lit wreath from my holiday decorations.

Finally, while we are on the subject of Illumination, how can i give the greatest light on our planet a miss. This light is the most effective and important of all and  fuels our life, our sense of curiosity and discovery!
