Mayday! Mayday!

I am talking about the tree not the distress signal.

Those of you in Europe may know it as Hack-berry. It appears to be a simple tree until it flowers….in the month of may mostly & hence the name! It blossoms with pendulous clusters of fragrant pure-white flowers and it attracts butterflies , bees and ME!

If you have one May -day tree on your block, the entire neighborhood will be fragrant. Imagine what would happen if you have 20??

This small circular park in downtown Calgary is lined with mayday trees and since now these trees are in full bloom this park is drenched in their lovely fragrance and two blocks on each side too.

You might  notice I was not the only one taking pictures!

The park’s perimeter is lined with maydays! A day like today is what makes this worthwhile!

I wish you could smell these through the pictures. They say “stop to smell the roses” these flowers are the kind that their lovely aroma itself can stop you in your tracks!

A closer look at the flower clusters! So delicate and pristine….. the maker’s handiwork seen in their little groupings.

These flowers are among my favorites and they always bring a smile to my face.

What are the things that made you smile today?
