For this weeks theme: Arranged
In the fall of 2011, the Botanical garden in my city hosted its 20th annual Chinese lantern display. The theme was “The First Emperor’s Procession” with close to 700 traditional lanterns and another 200 thematic lanterns paying tribute to China’s first Emperor, Qin Shi Huangdi, and his impressive cavalry. The lanterns were nicely arranged in different settings throughout the garden.
I think the first image of the traditional lantern does fall into the theme of this week’s photo challenge as for the rest of the images, I felt it would be nice to share a little bit more about the festival & the whole set.
The traditional lanterns were hung along the structures and the pathways.
Other thematic lanterns displaying daily life were displayed in different parts of the garden.
The most impressive part of the display was the emperor’s chariot and cavalry.
These lanterns were Arranged in the middle of the lake creating a nice display of reflections.
The lantern were handmade in china and reassembled in Canada. It was amazing to see the handiwork of the craftsmen and the effort that was put in creating the festival.
It was a wonderful experience for me and my family. I hope you enjoyed these images too.

Nice composition in your first photo. I like the perspective with the lanterns getting smaller as they get further away, and the contrast of the red-orange lanterns against the blue sky.
thanks Ruth!
